This work depicts the view from box 5 of the Opera Garnier in Paris, which the Phantom instructs to always leave open for him in the 1909 Gothic novel The Phantom of the Opera. Hidden in the curtain i n the foreground is INVADER's "PA_631", originally hidden by the outer gate of the Opera Garnier. The novel is based on an accident that actually occurred at the Opera Garnier in the 19th century, but the stage production of "The Phantom of the Opera" has never been staged here. Will it be staged here someday? 1909年のゴシック小説『オペラ座の怪人』で、怪人が自分のために必ず空けておくように指示する、パリのオペラ・ガルニエ5番ボックス席から臨む景色が描かれています。手前のカーテンに隠れているのはINVADERの「PA_631」、本来はオペラ・ガルニエの外門に隠れています。19世紀にオペラ・ガルニエで実際に起きた事故を元に作られた小説ですが、舞台『オペラ座の怪人』がここで上演されたことはありません。いつか上演されるでしょうか。

Henri Rivière, a Post-Impressionist painter from Paris, France, was deeply influenced by Japonisme and painted "Thirty-six Views of the Eiffel Tower" (Les Trente-Six Vues de la Tour Eiffel) after Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji". This work was inspired by one of his series, "Notre Dame Cathedral", painted in 1902. It was created in honor of the ceremony for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, which too k place at the same time as EXCALIBUR's solo exhibition in Paris in 2024. In Henri Rivière's work, the sky is cloudy with lots of smoke rising from the chimneys of the city of Paris, but in this work, an airplane is flying over the unchanged Parisian cityscape. フランス・パリ出身のポスト印象派の画家アンリ・リヴィエールは、ジャポニスムに深い影響を受け、葛飾北斎の「富嶽三十六景」に倣って「エッフェル塔三十六景」を描きました。 この作品は、1902年に描かれた連作のひとつ「ノートルダム大聖堂」にインスパイアされたものです。2024年にパリで開催されたEXCALIBURの個展と同時期にノートルダム大聖堂の再開の式典が開催され、敬意を込めて制作されました。アンリ・リヴィエールの作品では、パリの街の煙突からたくさんの煙が立ち上って空を曇らせていますが、本作では、変わらないパリの街並みの上を飛行機が飛んでいます。

This work is the third "Ukiyo.e" in Paris. The title comes from the name of the street, "Avenue de Tokio", which existed from 1918 to 1945. The name of this street was also the origin of the Palais de Tokyo. The bridge in the near view is the Dubili Bridge over the Seine River, which borrows the work that the Invader bombed. The seagulls (Mouette rieuse) fly ing over the Seine and the Eiffel Tower are also reminiscent of the black-headed gulls (Tokyo's resident bird) and the Miotsukushi (traditional Japanese daybeacon) from Hiroshige's "Shibaura no fukei (Shibaura Scenery)". The distant background quotes EVA Unit-8β and EVA Mark.44A from the Battle of Paris in "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time". パリの「浮世ドット絵」3 作目です。タイトルは1918 年から1945 年まで存在した通りの名前「Avenue de Tokio」から名付けました。この通りの名前はパレ・ド・トーキョーの由来にもなりました。 近景の橋はセーヌ川に架かるドゥビリ橋で、インベーダーがボムッた作品を借景しています。また、セーヌ川を飛ぶカモメ（Mouette rieuse）とエッフェル塔は、広重の『芝うらの風景』からユリカモメ（東京都民の鳥）と澪標を重ねて、遠景には『シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版:||』パリ戦でのエヴァ8号機βとエヴァ44Aを引用しています。

The title comes from the name of street "Mon détour (detour)" and the central market "Les Halles" that used to be there. There are various theories as to the origin of the name of street. In the far left is the Église Saint-Eustache de Paris and part of a posthumous painting by Keith Haring 2 weeks before his death, which was donated there. The green zombie on the center wall is one of the NFT project "CryptoPunks", and in 2022, the Invader bombed this wall. Note that the red glasses are CC0 (copyright free) NFT project "Nouns" and do not actually exist at this location. I cited it as street art on the virtual.
